The Forty-Fifth Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, due to take place later this month in New Orleans, has been postponed until December 16-19 due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina, and will now be held at the Washington D.C. convention centre, it was announced yesterday.

The scientific meeting’s organisers say that all registrations will be honoured and all flights booked through the conference’s official carrier will be reticketed at no cost. Individuals already registered for the conference are advised that New Orleans hotel deposits will be refunded automatically and registered delegates will receive notification of new accommodation options as soon as they have been finalised.

This is the second time in four years that the ICAAC meeting has been postponed at very short notice. In 2001 the organisers were forced to postpone the conference in the aftermath of the September 11th terrorist attacks.
