A worldwide shortage of ritonavir capsules due to a
manufacturing problem has meant that people taking ritonavir must switch to the
liquid formulation of the drug. This presents problems for people who may not be
able to tolerate the bitter taste of the liquid. The AIDS Pharmacists Group and
NAM have produced a href="../../publications/factsheets/fs27.htm">factsheet
liquid. Advice on the management of patients is also available from a website
established by the International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care (

). This site includes protocols for switching patients from ritonavir to other
drugs.
