We are not currently recruiting for any positions at NAM, but do keep checking these pages as we advertise all our vacancies here.

We are a dynamic and energetic organisation, which achieves a great deal with a small but highly focused and professional team. We are professional, yet informal and friendly, with a good level of autonomy within roles. We work in a rapidly changing environment, we listen to the views of users in order to ensure we are responsive to need and maximise opportunities as they arise.

Our core values are: reliable, useful, responsive. These values are at the heart of everything we do and the way we do it.

Recruitment

We take our recruitment process very seriously.  For any job vacancy candidates are asked to complete an application form listing current and previous work history, academic and/or other qualifications. If the vacancy is UK based, only candidates who are eligible to work in the UK should apply. We don’t accept CVs as a substitute for the application form, this helps us make sure everyone’s application is measured against common criteria.

Applicants are provided with full job descriptions and person specifications to refer to for their application. The application form invites individuals to demonstrate, using examples from work or related experience, how they meet each point on the person specification.

A good application will be one where each point is addressed in turn, with details and examples evidencing how the applicant meets the criteria.

After a thorough shortlisting process, successful applicants will be invited to interview.

Shortlisting

Applications can be emailed, faxed or posted. Once they arrive at NAM, the first page with personal details is removed and stored separately from the application form by a member of staff not involved in the recruitment process.

After the closing date, the applications are read and marked in relation to how well the candidate has met the person specification. The shortlisting process is carried out by at least two members of staff who will also sit on the interview panel. Once the staff members have read all the applications and identified the highest scoring candidates, the forms are matched up with the personal details, so we can contact successful candidates and invite them to interview.

Due to limited resources we do not contact candidates who have not been successful in the shortlisting process.

The interview

Interviews at NAM are usually between 40 minutes and an hour long.

Depending on the role, we might ask candidates to do a short test before the interview, or prepare for a presentation to give during the interview.

The interview panel consists of at least two members of the NAM staff, but we often invite professionals from other organisations to sit on the panel, particularly if the role involves partnership working.

The interview panel has a list of previously prepared questions that draw out examples and discussion relating to the Person Specification. The panel asks each candidate the same questions in the same order. Opportunity is given for candidates to ask the panel any questions. Although interviewers are friendly and relaxed the interview is a formal and an important part of the recruitment process.
