An international non-profit organisation funding programmes that help to alleviate the physical, emotional and financial hardship of those living with, affected by or at risk of HIV/AIDS. Sir Elton John established EJAF in the UK in 1993 with a sister organisation established in the USA in 1992 to fund programmes in North America. Collectively the two organisations have raised over $150 million since inception in support of projects in 55 countries around the world, including significant funding dedicated to programmes in their respective home countries. EJAF has supported more than 460 projects in the UK with grants totalling over £12 million. In 2005/6 EJAF underwent a strategic review of how and where the organisation works. This led to the development of detailed individual grant strategies for each country in order to better target funding.
