Providing timely HIV and STI surveillance data
Data are provided nationally, and broken down by major prevention groups. Residence based data available for STIs and diagnosed HIV infection. Note: The KC60 return has been revised to collect disaggregated, patient-level information for all patients attending GUM clinics and is known as the Genitourinary Medicine Clinic Activity Dataset or GUMCAD. The collection of GUMCAD is the first phase of implementation of the Common Dataset for Sexual Health.
Key role in monitoring prevention indicators
e.g. uptake of HIV testing and STI screening in the general and key populations; measuring HIV clinical outcomes; monitoring late HIV diagnoses.
Sexual Health Promotion Office
Consolidates data from HIV and STI surveillance systems in combination with results from individual research projects to inform sexual health services, sexual health commissioners and organisations conducting sexual health promotion in England.
