Based at St Thomas’ Hospital is the HIV outpatient department of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. It provides outpatient care to almost 3000 patients. As well as general HIV clinics there are: antenatal clinics, treatment advice clinics, hepatitis C/HIV co infection clinic, TB/HIV co-infection clinic, Ophthalmology Clinic, Metabolic Clinic, dietician clinics, physiotherapy clinic, nurse-led clinics for stable patients and those starting or switching therapy, Pharmacist led clinics for patients starting or switching therapy, Health Adviser sessions, Research Facility and Clinical Trials Unit. Patients are normally referred by the sexual health clinic or local GPs but people can self refer as long as they have proof of being HIV positive and can provide a medical summary if they are transferring from another clinic.
