Gilead Sciences Inc. announced today that the majority of hepatitis C genotype 1 patients with a
prior "null" response to an interferon (IFN)-containing regimen enrolled in the
ongoing ELECTRON study experienced viral relapse within four weeks of completing
12 weeks of treatment with GS-7977 plus ribavirin (RBV).

WHO has concluded, on the advice of its Guidelines Review Committee, that
women living with HIV or at high risk of HIV can safely continue to use hormonal
contraceptives to prevent pregnancy. The recommendation follows a thorough
review of evidence about links between hormonal contraceptive use and HIV
