Dildos

As a rule, it is best to keep to your own sex toys because of the risks of infection. Wash the dildo in very hot soapy water after use, or use a condom on the dildo when fucking.

If you do decide to share your dildo(s) with a partner, or use it in both arse and vagina, then either thoroughly clean the dildo before swapping over, or use a condom each time the dildo goes up a different arse or vagina, to keep the dildo clean. Otherwise, infected blood, cum or vaginal fluid could potentially transmit HIV from one orifice to another. Don't move a dildo from arse to vagina, because of the risk of bacterial infections.

Leather dildos are extremely difficult to clean, and should only be used on yourself, or always with a condom.

Some people wear a harness to hold the dildo in place. It is unlikely that blood or vaginal juices on the harness could transmit HIV, since the fluids will not stay in the warm and moist environment of the vagina or anus. However, it is good hygiene to wash or wipe the harness before it is used for another person.

Improvised dildos (see Food) are fine, and the same rules apply. However, avoid brittle, broken or fragile items, which could cause a lot of damage, or which could cause `suction' (e.g. open bottles) and be pulled too far inside. It makes sense to wash fruit or vegetables, since they can have pesticides or bacteria on them which could be absorbed through either the anal or vaginal wall.

When using toys in the rectum, either use one with a base or use it carefully. The muscles can contract suddenly and the object will shoot up the rectum.

Remember, don't use oil–based lubricants with dildos. It not only corrodes condoms, but also starts to rot the dildo if it is made of rubber, which can be an expensive mistake! Instead, use water-based lubricant like J-lube or even acqueous cream.
