This module provides training towards the following WHO-recommended clinical care competencies for HIV service delivery providers:
Prescribing ARVs
- Substitute to alternative first-line regimens in appropriate circumstances and record reason
- Switch to second line regimen in appropriate circumstances and record reason
- Differentiate a first and a second line regimen and know when they are used
- Know when to suspect treatment failure
- Know how to use boosted PI
- Evaluate possible treatment failure with CD4 count and interpret result
- Evaluate possible treatment failure with viral load and interpret results
Monitoring, Treatment failure and Toxicity
- Choose an appropriate second line regimen based on patient history and knowledge of mutations (where possible)
