Cuts
Many people worry about the risk of being infected if they get semen, blood or vaginal fluid into cuts whilst having sex. it is important not to get too worried about this risk – it is very unlikely that HIV will get into the bloodstream in this way. In order to protect yourself or your partner from any small risk of infection, cover cuts with a waterproof plaster. It is far more likely that HIV infection could occur if one of you has cuts on your genitals. These may not always be evident to you, especially for women, but they do increase the chance of HIV infection.
If you are fisting and have cuts on your hands, it is safest for both partners if the active partner uses gloves.
