Donate through your payroll
You can support people affected by HIV by making a regular contribution through your payroll.
What is payroll giving and how does it work?
Payroll Giving, also known as Give As You Earn, is an HM Customs & Revenue scheme that enables employees to donate, tax free, through their pay to any charity in the UK.
Regularly donating a fixed sum of money from your salary is a simple way to give. It's also the most tax-effective, because donations are deducted before you pay tax.
On each payday, an amount of your choice is deducted by your payroll department and sent to NAM. Your donations are taken before tax, so for example, if you want to donate £10 to NAM, only £8 actually comes out of your salary and the taxman pays the rest. Or if you are a higher rate taxpayer (40%), only £6 comes out of your salary and the taxman pays the rest.
And because your donation is deducted before your pay is taxed, you actually save on the tax you would have paid – immediate tax relief!
Over 2.5million UK companies use the PAYE system needed for Payroll Giving so the chances are your company has a scheme in place.
How you’ll be helping
By giving from your salary each payday, you will be helping us to provide vital resources and services to people living with HIV. The fact that we know how much and how often you will donate means that we can budget effectively and plan ahead. And because it’s also the most tax-effective way to give, you will know that your gift is going that bit further in helping people affected by HIV.
How do I sign up?
-
Simply ask your payroll or HR department if they have a payroll giving scheme in place. They will be able to provide you with the information and forms you need to support NAM regularly through your payroll.
If you would prefer that your employer does not know which charity you are donating to each payday there are ways to do this. However, it varies from employer to employer. If you would like more information about this, please contact NAM on 020 7840 0050.
-
Use the payroll calculator and pledge form to let us know about your payroll giving. Or call us on 020 7840 0050.
Because of the way the payroll giving scheme operates, your payroll donations will be credited to NAM's account each payday, but will remain anonymous to NAM unless you tell us who they are from. We would love to be able to thank you properly for your kind support and keep you updated about how your donations are helping, so please use the donation calculator and pledge form to let us know, or give us a call.
