Our team
We are a small team of 18 people, with a broad range of skills, expertise and experience. Working from our office in south London, we are committed to bringing clear and accurate information on HIV and AIDS to those who need it, and passionate about listening to the people who use our materials to ensure they continue to be relevant, accessible and useful.
Caspar Thomson (Director)
Caspar joined NAM in 2001 as Director, and is responsible for sustaining and developing NAM in order to maximise its effectiveness in meeting its mission. He works closely with the charity's trustees to shape NAM's strategic goals and ensure their implementation. He is also responsible for ensuring the organisation has the resources necessary to enable it to achieve its objectives.
Finance & Office Team
Jeremy Cohen (Business & Finance Manager)
Jeremy joined NAM in September 1998. He manages NAM’s internal systems including finance, IT and premises.
Imoh Itieimoh (Office & Finance Assistant)
Imoh joined NAM in 2006, and carries out day-to-day finance duties, ensuring prompt payments to NAM suppliers and consultants. He also helps compile the bi-monthly management accounts.
Editorial Team
Paul Adlam (Editor, UK directories)
Paul joined NAM in 2008. He is responsible for updating and expanding NAM’s database of HIV services in the UK and ensuring that the information is readily available to those who need it. Keith Alcorn (Senior Editor)
Keith joined NAM in 1991 and edited the AIDS Reference Manual (1996 to 1998) and the HIV & AIDS Treatments Directory (1998 to 2004). He was founding editor of NAM's website aidsmap.com and co-edits HIV & AIDS Treatment in Practice (2003 to present), a newsletter focusing on HIV treatment and care in resource-limited settings.
Sylvie Beaumont (Editor, international directories)
Sylvie joined NAM in 1997. She has responsibility for maintaining and developing NAM’s worldwide listings of HIV services and organisations, both online and in print. To search this database, click here. If you would like your organisation to be included in this listing, contact Sylvie.
Gus Cairns (Editor, HIV Treatment Update)
Gus joined the editorial team this year as editor of NAM’s regular newsletter, HTU. He has been a freelance writer for us since 2003 having edited the last three issues of the HIV Reference Manual and both editions of Preventing HIV.
Michael Carter (Editor, patient information)
Michael has been an editor at NAM since 2002. He edits the aidsmap news service and is NAM's Patient Information Editor with responsibility for the award-winning range of booklets.
Selina Corkery (Editorial Team Manager)
Selina joined NAM in 2008. She oversees the work of NAM’s editorial team, helping ensure information materials are high quality, timely and meet the needs of our audiences. To tell us about any NAM materials you have used, or would like to see developed, please contact us.
Greta Hughson (Sub-editor)
Greta joined NAM in 2008. Her role involves ensuring the quality and accuracy of NAM’s printed and online work. If you have any comments or suggestions about our material, please contact us.
Carole Leach-Lemens (Editor)
Carole joined NAM in 2009. Her focus is mainly on materials for healthcare workers and community-based organisation staff in resource-limited settings.
Roger Pebody (Editor, non-medical and patient information materials)
Roger joined NAM in 2008. He is an editor focusing on easy-to-understand patient information materials, as well as information for professionals on HIV prevention and the social impact of HIV.
Theo Smart (Editor, HIV & AIDS Treatment in Practice)
Theo is based in Cape Town, South Africa. Theo has worked with NAM since 2003 and has a primary focus on clinical practice and policy developments affecting the management of HIV and TB in resource-limited settings.

Claire Booth (Funding Development Manager)
Claire joined NAM in 2001. Her role involves seeking funding for NAM’s work from corporate, statutory, trust and other donors. For a full list of NAM’s current funders click here.
Rose Bradbury (Communications Assistant)
Rose joined NAM in November 2008. She assists the Communications Manager in the promotion and marketing of NAM’s materials, organising events, and processing user feedback.
Beth Isherwood (Administrative Assistant)
Beth joined NAM in January 2009. She provides administrative support to NAM’s funding team and is responsible for administering the sale of our publications and donations from our generous supporters. Click here to visit NAM’s bookshop or here to make a donation.
Kieran McCann (Graphic Designer)
Kieran joined NAM in 2008 as the in-house graphic designer. He is responsible for maintaining the successful visual communication of NAM's printed and online output.
Zoë Smith (Communications Manager)
Zoë joined NAM in 2005. Her job is to help make sure that as many people as possible know how and where to get NAM's resources. An important part of her role is also to make sure that your ideas are fed back into NAM and used to shape the way we develop our resources. Laura Wigzell (Funding Development Assistant)
Laura joined NAM in August 2007. She helps Claire and Caspar to research and secure funding from a variety of sources.
