More from Laura
Hi, I’m Laura and I joined NAM in August last year. I’m one of the newest and youngest additions to the NAM team, helping with subscriptions to our newsletter HIV Treatment Update and all sorts of information requests. Little did I know that within my first year here, I'd also be running a 10k race on behalf of NAM…
For me, I would love to raise enough money to make it possible for us to reprint our book living with hiv, which is now sadly completely out of stock. Working as front of house staff at NAM I have talked to a great many people, from those recently diagnosed, to concerned friends and family members, to doctors and nurses caring for people living with HIV. I have become acutely aware that this book has provided a lot of support to people through good times and bad. I want to do my bit to make sure NAM can provide this resource again.
So that’s why I entered the British 10k London Run. Well, that and I hoped it would help shift a few pies… And in an attempt to raise even more money, I thought it would be a great idea to challenge NAM's director, Caspar, to race me.
More fool me…
I was secretly hoping youth would be on my side and that he’d be the one struggling to keep up with me, but I have since found out he’s quite the seasoned athlete. A former Team GB triathlete no less! I am literally quaking in my boots. Or my newly acquired running shoes anyway…
So to cut to the chase (no pun intended!), if I can’t beat him on the track, please help me at least beat him on the sponsorship front. The moral victory! Your support would not only drive me to try and keep up with Caspar, but, more importantly, will help NAM to continue to support people by providing the latest, accurate information on HIV.
Thank you
Laura Wigzell
