World AIDS Day (November 2009)
December 1st is World AIDS Day, and there are lots of ways you can get involved and show your support for people affected by HIV and AIDS and to raise awareness.

New publication: HIV Transmission & Testing (September 2009)
New this month, HIV Transmission & Testing is a practical guide to HIV transmission routes, risks and testing.
Ideal for anyone whose work involves giving information on HIV transmission risk, or on taking an HIV test, as a reference resource, or in preparing training sessions.

NAM’s resources highly commended by the British Medical Association (September 2009)
Fifteen of NAM's HIV treatment information publications, have received commendations in this year’s British Medical Association Patient Information Awards.
All ten of NAM’s new illustrated fact sheets, The Basics, were highly commended, described by the review panel as, “An excellent set of leaflets. The design is brilliant. They cover a really good range of concerns critical to people living with HIV.”
The Basics cover key health and HIV treatment topics and are intended to support discussions between healthcare professionals and people living with HIV. The fact sheets use simple language and pictures to bring the information to life. To download your own copies click here .
NAM was also highly commended for its patient information booklet HIV Therapy, while four other titles in this series were commended.

Two new patient information booklets (September 2009)
Two new titles in our award-winning patient information series are available online and in print.
The first, Adherence & Resistance, covers two important topics in HIV treatment information, and the second, CD4, Viral Load & Other Tests, is an expanded version of a popular previous title.
Funded by the Department of Health and the NHS Pan-London HIV Prevention Programme, these booklets are available free to individuals in the UK directly affected by HIV and are distributed free through clinics and organisations in the UK. They can be ordered (and can also be bought) through our online bookshop.
The booklets can also be downloaded as a pdf or read online.
London Triathlon, 1st August 2009
A very brave trio of NAM staff took part in this year’s London Triathlon on Saturday 1st August. Caspar (our Director) began with a 1500m swim in the River Thames, Kieran (our Graphic Designer) then took off on a gruelling 40km cycle and then Tom (our Web Developer) finished with a swift 10km run.

5th IAS Conference, 19-22 July 2009
NAM is the official provider of online news coverage for the 5th International AIDS Society Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention in Cape Town.
Audio-visual reports of recent NAM events (June 2009)
NAM recently held a clinical symposium on HIV Prevention in the Treatment Setting, and an expert seminar on Commissioning World Class Services for People Living with HIV.
Audio-visual reports of these events, including streaming audio and slidesets from the presentations, and photos from both days are now available on aidsmap.com.
New edition of HIV and AIDS Services Worldwide (May 2009)
The new edition of HIV and AIDS Services Worldwide is now available, offering a comprehensive listing of HIV services across the world.
It provides details of over 2200 key agencies, in 189 countries, offering services for those affected by HIV, including treatment, testing, prevention, counselling, palliative care, support and advocacy.
All listings are printed in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese and the accompanying CD-ROM includes an interactive map version of the information, as well as pdf versions of our booklets, factsheets, newsletters and The Basics.
HIV and AIDS Services Worldwide is published with support from UNAIDS.

New booklet: Side-effects (May 2009)
Side-effects is a brand-new title in our award-winning booklet series and is now available online and in print.
Addressing concerns about possible side-effects of HIV treatment, the booklet provides information to help people understand, avoid and deal with side-effects.
Funded by the Department of Health and the NHS Pan-London HIV Prevention Programme, this booklet is available free to individuals in the UK directly affected by HIV and is distributed free through HIV clinics. It is also available to buy for £1.00 from our online bookshop or can be downloaded as a pdf or read online.
New edition of HIV Treatments Training Pack (April 2009)
The new edition of the HIV Treatments Training Pack is now available from NAM.
This resource is made up of twelve flexible modules that can be broken down into short sessions or added together for longer courses. The pack is designed so you can adapt sessions to best suit your needs and those of your audience.

New resources: The Basics (April 2009)
Launched at this month's conferences in Liverpool and Durban, NAM's new information resources, the basics, are now available to download from aidsmap.com.
This is a completely new series of ten illustrated fact sheets, available in English and in French, covering key health messages and intended to support discussions between healthcare professionals and people with HIV.

NAM at the 15th Annual Conference of BHIVA (01/04/09)
From 1st-3rd April, NAM will be reporting from the 15th annual conference of the British HIV Association (BHIVA) in Liverpool.
We will also be hosting a stand, so if you are attending do stop by and say hello!
