Albendazole is an antibiotic that is being studied as a treatment for microsporidiosis. It is approved in the United Kingdom for the treatment of intestinal parasitic infections, and comes in the form of orange chewable tablets.

Side-effects can include gastro-intestinal upsets, headaches and dizziness. Less frequent reactions include rash, fever, elevated liver enzymes and hair loss.

Albendazole is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline under the tradename Eskazole.
