Hepatitis F does not yet exist. Laboratories periodically claim to have found new hepatitis viruses. Before one of these claims could be substantiated as true or false a second virus affecting the liver was found and named Hepatitis G. When the claim for hepatitis F was unsubstantiated it would have been too confusing to re-designate HGV as hepatitis F so it has been left unassigned.
