• National HIV/AIDS services: are listed in NAM's AIDS Organisations Worldwide and the European AIDS Directory.
  • Vaccination/immunisation: issues for people with HIV are discussed in the HIV & AIDS Treatments Directory.
  • Help with travel for people with HIV may be available through the British Red Cross which has links in all other countries through the International Red Cross and Red Crescent. Help may also be available from organisations listed by country in NAM's  AIDS Organisations Worldwide and the European AIDS Directory .
  • The Foreign and Commonwealth Office Consular Department has a Travel Advice Section which is open 9.30am until 4.pm Monday to Friday (020 7008 0232 / 0233) may be able to give you information about travel restrictions and political problems abroad.
  • Advice on other aspects of health abroad is also available from MASTA, the Medical Advisory Service for Travellers Abroad (0906 822 4100 - http://www.masta.org/ - enquiries@masta.org). This is not a free service.
  • Advice (and a manual) for voluntary organisations sending volunteers or workers abroad is available from the UK NGO AIDS Consortium (020 7324 4780).
  • General leaflets: The Traveller's Guide To Health produced by the Department of Health is available free from the Health Literature Line or your local library or Citizens Advice Bureau.
  • You can also get general health information about travelling abroad by asking your doctor, who in turn can get guidance on health issues for travellers abroad from the Communicable Disease Surveillance Centre.
  • First aid kits and clean needles etc. for travellers abroad can be bought from MASTA (see above).
