Many organisations that offer HIV services or who work with groups vulnerable to HIV offer counselling on a free or (more often) low-cost basis. They may also offer support groups, therapy groups and workshops. Counselling is usually restricted to short-contract work (six to 24 weeks is typical), but onward referral to private therapists or (if appropriate) psychiatric services is usually possible.
