Ensuring Positive Futures (EPF) is a partnership of 16 organisations encompassing the HIV sector, trade unions, employers and public sector organisations. The six core partners are major HIV and AIDS charities: National AIDS Trust (NAT), Oasis North London (ONL), Positive East (PE), Positively Women (PW), Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) and the lead partner, UK Coalition of People Living with HIV and AIDS (UKC). Collectively this partnership aims to test new ways of working together to assist and support people with HIV enter, return to and remain in employment.

The services available include a range of individual advice and guidance, vocational courses, a wide variety of volunteer opportunities and work placement options, traineeships, specific support for young people living with HIV, employment preparation support, in-work support for those who have returned to work, positive health, 'Centre for living' exploring innovative ways of supporting people to take the ‘first steps’ towards returning to employment, and telephone and web- based advice. An integral element of the new programme is the addition of a Case Management function across the London based organisations initially. The Case Manager’s role will be to work with the participant to develop an Individual Service Plan that outlines the person’s goals and the steps necessary for reaching those goals, through referrals within the EPF partnership, such as careers guidance, work placement and employment preparation support. This case manager will ensure that there is continuity between services and a continued sense of progression achieved by the client.

EPF through its Employer and Trade Union Diversity Development (ETUDD) project will also be targeting unions and employers together to explore and develop increasingly effective ways of ensuring introduction and implementation of HIV sensitive employment related policies and practices within the workplace.

People with HIV will also be encouraged to develop skills to enable then to engage in campaigning and to actively inform and influence policy design and change.
