UNAIDS’ current targets are for 95% of people with HIV to be diagnosed, 95% of diagnosed people to be taking treatment, and 95% of people on treatment to have an undetectable viral load. They also aim for 95% access to a number of essential services. Other UNAIDS targets call for the removal of barriers to HIV services – less than 10% of people experiencing stigma and discrimination, less than 10% of people experiencing gender inequality or violence, and less than 10% of countries having punitive laws and policies in relation to HIV.
