Starting to find information

There are many organisations around the UK offering services and information to people with HIV.

NAM publishes a large book called HIV Services in the UK every year. It includes information on HIV clinics and services providers throughout the UK. You can also search for HIV clinics on NAM’s website www.aidsmap.com.

Each year there are changes in the HIV sector, with new services starting up, organisations merging, and other organisations closing altogether.

To find out what services are available near you, a good place to start would be to call one of the national helplines listed in this section or talk to one of the professionals you are currently receiving HIV services from. That might be someone at your clinic, such as a health adviser or nurse, a social worker, or advice worker.

As well as finding services, you may also want to look for more information, so you can learn more about HIV. The quality of HIV information on the internet is really varied. Details of a few key trusted sites are also listed in this section.

This content was checked for accuracy at the time it was written. It may have been superseded by more recent developments. NAM recommends checking whether this is the most current information when making decisions that may affect your health.
