New look for HIV weekly

This week we’re introducing a new design and a new feature to our news bulletin HIV weekly.

Every day, we report on the latest HIV research published in medical journals and presented at conferences. Our evidence-based HIV news reporting is published on aidsmap.com and shared by people all over the world.

HIV weekly is an email news bulletin, sent out free to over 17,000 subscribers, which summarises the key news stories each week for people living with HIV in the UK.

It also includes links to more information on topics highlighted by the news, so you can find out more about the subjects of interest to you.

HIV weekly is written for people living with HIV in the UK, but we hear from our subscribers that it is also read by people in many other countries, and by people working in HIV, who particularly value being able to stay up to date with new research.

Is HIV weekly for me?

Topics covered by HIV weekly vary from week to week, depending on what new research has been published. To give you a flavour, topics featured in the last few months include:

  • HIV treatment – including individual drugs, starting treatment, treatment guidelines, adherence, changing treatment, drug interactions, side-effects, treatment during pregnancy and access to treatment and care.
  • HIV transmission and prevention – including pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP and PEP) and treatment as prevention.
  • Health and wellbeing – including mental health, sleep, nutrition, relationships, housing, drug use and smoking.
  • Preventing and treating related health problems – including hepatitis, tuberculosis, mental health problems, sexually transmitted infections, cancers, kidney problems and cardiovascular disease.

We also highlight news from NAM, including new print and online information resources, opportunities to get involved and occasionally surveys, research and events that may be of interest.

HIV weekly started life back in September 2005 – we have included a full archive on our website at www.aidsmap.com/hivweekly

What’s new?

From 30th May, HIV weekly has a fresh new look. We’re keeping the same simple format – concise updates on the latest news published on aidsmap.com – but we’ve added an extra feature. Each week, we’ll be including links to a selection of news stories from other sources.

Since July 2010, we’ve been offering this service on our website – every day our editors scan the news published on other websites and pick a selection of links to include on our news pages – and now you will be able to see a sample of these in HIV weekly too.

We’d love to hear your feedback – how do you use HIV weekly, what do you think of the new look and the new feature? Get in touch with us by emailing info@nam.org.uk or call us on 020 3242 0820.
