Malaria and HIV

Malaria and HIV infection can influence one another in dramatic ways. While people with HIV are at an elevated risk of malaria infection and disease, becoming infected with malaria can also have deleterious effects on the progression of HIV disease. These interactions may be more severe in pregnant women.
