Making a complaint

All the organisations listed above can help you complain if you encounter stigma and discrimination to help you secure your rights.

Keep detailed notes about the incident you wish to complain about. Don’t be abusive or threatening and remain calm. Remember that complaint procedures can be very lengthy and can be emotionally demanding.

Here are details of three ways of pursuing a complaint:

Your MP

Complaining about the press

You can complain about the press to the Press Complaints Commission. Their website is http://www.pcc.org.uk/

Alternatively, you can contact their helpline on 0845 600 2757.

Complaining about your NHS treatment
