Diagnosis

Depression is defined as the presence of most or all of the following symptoms on a daily basis for several weeks: depressed mood; apathy; irritability; significant, unintentional weight loss or gain; insomnia, early waking or oversleeping; fatigue; loss of interest or pleasure in usual activities; feelings of low self-worth or excessive guilt; poor concentration; recurrent thoughts of death or suicide.
