Age

The Australian Lipodystrophy Prevalence Survey found that the risk of body fat changes increased with age. Individuals aged 40-49 had a twofold increased risk compared with those below 40, and the risk increased fourfold in those over 50 years old. 1

This pattern has been reflected in most other studies of risk factors for lipodystrophy. 2
